Psalm 72 - A Psalm of Solomon
Verses 72:1 - 72:19
Give the king your judgments, O God,
and your righteousness to the son of the king.
He shall judge your people with wisdom,
and your poor with mercy.
The mountains shall bring peace to the people,
and the hills shall bring salvation to the righteous.
God shall defend the poor, save the children of the needy,
and break the oppressor into small pieces.
They shall fear God for as long as the sun and moon endure,
throughout all generations.
He shall fall as rain upon mown grass,
as showers that water the earth.
In his days, the righteous shall flourish,
and enjoy an abundance of peace for as long as the moon endures.
He shall have dominion from sea to sea,
from the rivers to the ends of the earth.
Those who dwell in the wilderness shall bow down before him.
His enemies shall lick the dust from his feet.
The kings of Tarshish, and of the isles, shall bring presents.
The kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.
Yea, all kings shall bow down before him,
and all nations shall serve him.
For he delivers the poor and afflicted when they cry,
and helps him who has no helper.
He spares the poor and save the souls of the needy.
He redeems their souls from deceit and violence.
Their blood is precious in his sight.
And he shall live. And to him shall be given the gold of Sheba.
Prayer shall be made to him continually. Daily he shall be praised.
There is a handful of corn planted on the top of the mountains.
The fruit of it will shake Lebanon.
Those of the city shall flourish like grass over the earth.
His name shall endure forever.
His name shall continue as long as the sun,
and all men shall be blessed by him.
All nations shall call him blessed.
Blessed be God, the Lord God of Israel, who does wondrous things.
Blessed be his glorious name forever.
Let the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and Amen.
